Thanks to the wonderful Flavia, (I really hope you don’t mind I am using your theme) I noticed a new blogging meme, that seems right up my alley, because, I’ve been thinking of featuring a new meme on the blog, to spice things up. I’m excited to participate and interact with others, who will take up this lovely meme “I Heart Characters!” which Dani of Perspective of a Writer created and hosts.
This meme is a weekly one, which can be posted on any day of the week you choose, or the date Dani chooses I suppose, you can find out more information of this meme, by our plug >> Dani <<
– About the Meme –
I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger lover for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. ♡

Legacy of Orïsha Trilogy by Tomi Adeyemi
Zélie is a young and power Divîner, who is yet to truly know the kind of power she has within, living in a society where Divîner such as herself are treated as maggots, people who should be treated with nothing less than scorn and hatred, this has been the way since the king of Orïsha brutally destroyed magic in the land Orïsha.
The world Orïsha is based on a fictional Nigeria (my country). I know this because, well the names of places in the story are names of states in Nigeria, for example, Lagos, Eloirin, Zaria, Ibadan, Warri etc.
I might be biased because Yoruba is deeply embedded in this tale, I am a Yoruba woman. You know how POC are always happy when they see themselves represented in the books they read, especially when the story revolves around them and their culture? Well, this book is the ultimate Jackpot for me because the story isn’t even based on White Man soil.
Zélie is a bold and powerful young woman, who is discovering all the potential she has inside and is a remarkable leader, even though she makes a lot of mistakes, but she learns from them and grows, so what’s not to love?
[…] inventive character card (stealing my warrior right out from under me, lol!) She clearly inspired Lara and Sahi too with their character cards, now that’s the way to do […]

Hi Lara!! I was so, so happy to see you participated in my new meme! YAY I’m so excited!
And I love your choice! Zélie sounds incredible! I totally need to read Children of Blood and Bone. I love books about Nigeria. (And that bookstagram pic is too great! Love the movie too…) I just finished Akata Warrior and its set in Nigeria. It’s the second book in the series but the culture is so rich and beautiful. ❤

Hey Dani! You have a wonderful brain. Thanks for sharing this meme with us. I haven’t read any Nnedi book, but most people say the books are good, but my trusty readers didn’t like it, so i’m wary. Children of Blood and Bone is awesome in the YA Fantasy sense, I loved it and I hope you do also. If you love books featuring Nigerian culture, well the only thing Nigerian about the book is the language Yoruba and the Yoruba Deities, the name of most places and uhm names of people. Thank you for stopping by and also creating this.
