Book Review

I was a bit disoriented when I picked up War of Mist to read, seeing it had almost been a year since I read Reign of Mist, so I went back to Reign of Mist and read a bit to familiarize myself with the many characters once again, and when I was good to go, I dove back into the adventurous and final journey in the Oremere series.

It’s wild people, Ines the false Queen is even more powerful than ever and is raging havoc all over the realms, the team are scattered all over but trying to make their way back to each other, because once they finally do, the reunion of a lifetime, the one that can save them from the mad reign of Ines happens and I couldn’t be happier.

This tale is a mixture of so much hope, anguish, betrayal, loss and recovery. It truly paints the vivid picture of the consequences of war. The betrayals were painful and the losses brutal, but the hope and recovery were all worth it.

In this book I finally forgave Athena, and my heart also broke for her. I was happy about how Dash grew and how important his role was in this book. Queen Eydis had to overcome a lot but she is a Queen I stand behind 100%. Sahara and Henri’s relationship is also one that I found refreshing and wonderful to read. I loved finding out Fiore’s secret and it’s amazing how Swinton was finally put in his place, but when I think of him now it’s all bittersweet.

I love Bleak and this book was kind of a break for her, she had more wins than anyone else, in the sense that she had losses but her wins triumph the losses, and I couldn’t be more proud of her. Who would have thought a drunk, would come all the way and come out on the highest tier.

I would talk about more but spoilers, I would though say there were romances sprinkled left and right in this book and it was sweet, I especially wish I could have gotten an epilogue telling me about how Lady Thornton faired and if Bleak got with that charming prince after all, maybe one day I’ll know.

The story telling was captivating, the use of language easy enough to follow and so many mysteries were solved, but like I said some questions aren’t answered, but it’s all good, I found this book entertaining but for some reason it felt so long like too much was happening, but it was all necessary at the end, but still felt like forever before we got to the final moments. I loved this series and Reign of Mist still remains my favourite book in this trilogy, with War of Mist coming in second.

Would I advise people to read this series? A million times yes, it’s the perfect adventure, which has a touch of everything.
