Wow, this year is officially over. The last day has finally arrived and I can’t be more thankful that I lived to see it through. 2017 is a year that is very significant, but I can’t help but be indifferent to it and glad it’s over.
I’ve learnt a lot and done a lot of growing up this year. I turned 21! I got involved with different people, the good, bad and ugly. I graduated from University, finally have a B. Sc. in Mass Communication in the bag. The book community evolved, so many issues are being raised and heard. I love that, we are making ourselves loud and clear, so everyone will learn, for the betterment of the community.
I wasn’t as dedicated as a blogger as I should have been, but I’ve also learnt that blogging isn’t meant to be stressful, but pleasant, about fulfilling a passion, not making it a chore. But in my defence, I have had so much going on this year. It’s been pretty busy, and I just know things are only going to get better as time passes.
I also haven’t been posting reviews on here, I have been so lazy, but I didn’t break my promise of reviewing every book I read this year, I’ve been writing mini-reviews on Goodreads for the books I mark as read, sadly I couldn’t read 200 books, I think I’m pushing on 160, gah! 2017 wasn’t so promising for reading anyways, knew I wouldn’t be able to read so much.
I changed my blog a lot, I changed URLs a couple of times, switched from WordPress free to WordPress self-hosting, then back to WordPress free and finally on a WordPress plan, because I have decided blogging is only ever going to be a passion of mine and I don’t need to profit from it and WordPress.com has all the features I need.
I finally hosted a Giveaway (reached 500 followers) and not a lot of people participated, but I’m thankful some did, imagine hosting a giveaway and nobody participates in it. So my lucky winner is Baby @ Writeous Baby. Congratulations once again.
I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep, but I feel I am going to have time in 2018, to work on things and reflect, so definitely will be blogging. Because I am going to have to be an adult for a year all by myself in a strange new land. I am excited to start, not going to lie, I want to embrace responsibility, (hopefully not spend most of my money on books) I am going to be a teacher at a Secondary School, don’t know the details fully yet, but I might be an English teacher, yay! fun times. I am kind of nervous though, but I want the experience.
I am thankful to all the new friends I have made or acquaintances this year has brought into my life. I left a lot of groups I joined, but only because of the toxic feelings that kept rising and raising my anxious level, I hate conflict and these groups have shown me that a lot of people still need to learn social skills and etiquette. On the other hand, I’ve joined productive blogger groups such as Crone Bloggers by Jenn, Books and Tea by Lauren & New Bloggers by Evelina. It won’t be bad checking these communities out!
I am all for positivity. My motive for 2018 is to be positive, think of the bright side as well as doing my very best. Want next to no negativity in my life, just want 2018 to be a happy year, where I am able to accomplish a lot of things I set out to do. I wish the same for everyone, a wonderful year ahead. Happy New Year!
