Meet Nancy, she is the blogger behind Knitted Pages
1. Hello Nancy, please introduce yourself and tell us about your blog?
Hi! I am the human behind Knitted Pages. Knitted Pages is the platform where I blog about all things literary. But I have plans for it to go well beyond that and extend into lifestyle.
2. What was the deciding factor that made you go “Yes I am doing this, I’m starting my own blog!” ? Are you passionate about what you post on your blog?
Honestly, I think the support from my family about me starting a blog was the deciding factor. My passion for books is what motivates me to work on the blog everyday so yes, I am passionate about what I post on the blog.
3. How would you describe your blogging style and persona? How meticulous are you, when it comes to the conceptualization up to the execution of your ideas?
I like to believe that my blogging style is friendly and inviting, at least that’s what I strive to be. When I first started, I was winging it all but I’ve grown to be much more organized and meticulous when it comes to blog posts from ideation to the posting.
4. What do you want and hope your readers to take from the content you share?
I hope that the readers can relate to what I write and that after they read my book reviews, they can decide if they want to read that book.
5. What is your blogging mojo? How do you stay inspired and motivated to continue running your blog?
When I see other bloggers on social media achieve and accomplish milestones for their blogs, I think to myself that I want to get there too and more. Which is what basically motivates me to keep running my blog.
6. What is your long-term goal/plan for your blog?
I plan to move my blog to a self hosted platform as I extend into the Lifestyle niche.
7. Who is your favourite marginalized main character? It doesn’t have to be from a book, it could also be from a movie, tv series, games, comics etc. Why is this character your favourite? Marginalization is the process whereby something or someone is pushed to the edge of a group and accorded lesser importance. This is predominantly a social phenomenon by which a minority or sub-group is excluded, and their needs or desires ignored. A marginalized person can be people of colour, the disabled, mentally ill, the lgbt+ community etc.
My favourite marginalized character would be Evie. She is 16 year old main character from Am I Normal Yet? By Holly Bourne who suffers from severe OCD.
8. It is important that marginalized people are given platforms to shine and bring awareness to their movements and plights. If you believe so, why is it important to you?
Yes, absolutely. Becauses a large part of the problem is the stigma attached to different things. And that can be dispelled only when people who are actually a part of it are given a chance and encouraged to come forward and shine.
9. It is crucial that in whatever we do, we should always strive for both equity & equality, what advice can you part with, when it comes to using our platforms to give a voice to the marginalized?
There’s a quote by Bryant H. McGill which I think perfectly sums up what I have to say “One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.” Be sincere, listen and respect.
10. Last but not the least, what’s your take on the blogging communities? What has been your experience within the community?
It’s been wonderful! Everyone who I’ve had the chance to interact with has been super nice.
